One of the many highlights of the Kowhai Festival Big Day on Saturday, October 9, will be the annual Kawau Volunteer Coastguard Chuck-a-Duck competition.
The little yellow ducks will be released on a flowing mid-tide rather than at the top of the tide which last year resulted in confused ducks swirling in still waters.
An eclectic mix of art and crafts will be on show at the annual Kowhai Arts and Crafts Group exhibition, which opens in the old Masonic Hall in Warkworth on October 7.
Bake your favourite cupcakes, put on your flashest hat and join the garden party to make the most of this year’s Kowhai Festival Garden Tour. On the weekend of October 16 and 17, some of the best gardens in the Matakana and Warkworth area will be on display, but visitors will be encouraged to do more than wander around and admire the views.
