Mahurangi student production steals the show

The talents of about 100 students were showcased when Mahurangi College presented Beauty and the Beast last month.

The one-week season involved five performances to appreciative audiences of students, teachers, parents and the wider community.

The huge cast of 70 students were drawn from both the junior and senior schools. An additional 30 students made up the production crew.

Mahurangi School assistant principal Ann Marinus said the school choose the play because it offered plenty of scope for creativity.

“We kept to the original storyline as much as possible, she said.

“Teachers, parents, and the students worked on the play for 10 weeks. The costumes were particularly amazing and are going to be entered in the Wearable Arts competition.”
