Warkworth Subdivision - June Turner

My experience and community support actively representing residents on important issues proves I can make a significant contribution on the Local Board. I listen to people and put forward sensible solutions to maintain our unique communities and lifestyles, as I’ve done as a Commissioner and a Councillor.

My priorities if elected to the Warkworth subdivision will be to provide more effective control over projects to prevent cost blow-outs, to maintain our current level of service, and protect and enhance our unique communities. I will also promote walkways and cycleways.

Warkworth should be the central hub for tourism and the gateway to the Matakana Coast, with its unique character. I see my role as being to encourage business and be an advocate for a new carpark that is not on the riverbank. I would also like to see the riverbank zoned “Reserve” for picnicking and recreation for all.

In response to almost the entire area’s desire, I would like to see the Atlas site taken off the ‘for sale’ list and returned to Warkworth for a recreational area for sports and arts. I also want to see the Hill St intersection fixed and to support the Puhoi to Wellsford motorway which is essential.

The Local Boards will be the face of the Council to the people and whilst non-regulatory they will still cover a lot of what councillors currently do. As a listener and achieving action with results I look forward to giving continuity in this way.
I wish to continue to act on locals’ concerns, putting their views forward and achieving results.
