Auckland Plan submissions
More than 1100 submissions on the Auckland Plan, a blueprint for the next 30 years, were received from Rodney.
Submissions on the plan closed at the end of last month. Transport was one of the dominant themes, followed by Auckland’s high-level development strategy, and urban and rural Auckland. Specific topics included making a quality compact Auckland work; Auckland’s economy; culture, recreation and sport; and integrated transport planning and investment with land use development; and the need to prioritise and optimise investment across transport modes. Hearings were due to start in Auckland on November 11 and are expected to conclude by December 17. At least 600 submitters Auckland-wide wish to be heard and it is estimated this will require extra sessions in the evenings and on Saturdays. More than 2500 submissions were received altogether. Councillors’ deliberations and decision-making on the draft plan have been rescheduled from December to February. Published 16 November 2011 |
