Health News - December 2011Community lunch is served A lunch held in the true spirit of Christmas, with an invitation extended to anyone who wishes to take part, has been held on the Coast for 13 years.The free Christmas Day Lunch, which was initiated by Age Concern to support people who are alone on Christmas Day is now run by the Salt Community Trust and caters for more than 200 guests. An event held at Matakana House on December 3 raised just over $3000 for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
A formal medal ceremony for Hibiscus Coast firefighters took place this month at the Silverdale RSA to acknowledge the time volunteers give up to serve the community. |
