Harley ride for men’s health

The throaty roar of 70 Harley Davidson motorbikes echoed around Orewa on September 4 as riders gathered to meet Aucklander John Bourne who is on a mission to raise men’s awareness of regular prostate checks.

John says that men should get a health check from their doctor every time they get a Warrant of Fitness for their bike.

Community dental health clinic first step in Government scheme

An agreement between Silverdale School and Waitemata District Health Board signed on August 9 has paved the way for a new community oral health clinic – the only one of its type in Rodney.

Octogenarian trains for Lake Taupo challenge

There’s no keeping 80-year-old Russ Hilder of Red Beach off his bike. Russ, who took up cycling at the age of 70, first competed in the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge two years ago, and completed it in seven hours.
