At this month’s meeting, members of the Rebus club of Hibiscus Coast were able to view their new defibrillator.

A demonstration of how it works was provided by St John northern region business development manager Scott Lewis.

The defibrillator will accompany members on weekly walking groups as well as being taken to meetings and on monthly bus trips.

Funds to purchase the lifesaving equipment were raised by member donation, topped up from the club’s coffers.

Rebus Hibiscus Coast president George Tregidga says that while it has been gratifying to see the tremendous support given by members, he hopes that this will be one club asset which will seldom, if ever, be needed.
