About Mahurangi Matters

Mahurangi Matters is published in the first week of the month and is distributed free to 8000 homes and business in the area from Puhoi north to The Dome, west to Ahuroa and Tauhoa and east to Leigh including Warkworth, Snells Beach, Algies Bay, Matakana and Omaha Beach.

The paper is one of three published by Local Matters Ltd, a locally owned company.

Our purpose

Staff work hard to produce a newspaper that gives value to both advertisers and readers. We live and work locally, so take a personal interest in the affairs of our district.

We like to get the news first, but it is equally important to get it right.

Reader feedback tells us that they enjoy the paper because of its local content, the articles are relevant and not just media releases, and it is often information that is available nowhere else. The A4 format is also very popular.

We cover the gamut of community issues, from local politics to regular features on gardening, history, financial management, health and well-being, and sport. The Mahurangi district has a vibrant arts community so we are also strong on coverage of exhibitions and events.
