Warkworth police promise crackdown on boy racers Police are promising to crackdown on a group of boy racers who have been using three streets in Snells Beach as a racetrack. The issue was raised at a Neighbourhood Support meeting last month. Sen. Constable Hamish Buick (pictured) said he had not appreciated the impact the racing was having on the Kauri Glen Road neighbourhood until he received a petition signed by 50 residents. “Honestly, it should never have got this far,” he said. “Nobody should have to put up with this sort of disturbance on ongoing basis.” Hamish said police were taking steps to address the problem. A range of issues was raised at the meeting, from the use of foreshores and public places for camping over summer to letterbox vandalism and dog faeces on the beach. Senior Constable Hamish Buick said the community’s interest in Neighbourhood Support in Snells Beach was “amazing” by national standards. Of the 1200 households in the area, 420 homes are enrolled. |
