Community funds dispersed
Four Rodney projects will share just over $13,500 in grants allocated from the Natural Heritage Fund, by the Rodney and Hibiscus Coast Subdivision Local Board Funding Committee recently. They are:
John and Martha Williams for native planting on Omaha Valley Road, Warkworth ($5000); Tomarata Farms for fencing on Cemetery Road, Tomarata ($1000); Leigh Harbour Valley Society for fencing on Pakiri Road, Leigh ($3300); Landwell Ltd for fencing on Partridge Road, Wellsford ($4600). An application from Landcare was deemed ineligible because the proposed project from Classic Baches involved planting a covenant bush lot but the covenant was created as part of a subdivision consent requirement and funding from the Rodney Natural Heritage Fund was not intended to support the ongoing protection or enhancement of bush lot covenants. A Rodney Heritage Fund grant was approved for the Warkworth Anglican Parish for re-roofing works on St Leonard’s Anglican Church, Matakana ($5000). The committee also allocated $1281 from the Community Grant Scheme (legacy Rodney District Council grant) to the Wellsford Promotions Association for the Wellsford Christmas Parade. A request from the Warkworth Catholic Parish, for the Puhoi Church of Saints Peter and Paul, was ineligible because the church had received funding within the last two years. |
