Groups with innovative ideas for reducing waste to landfill can apply for grants of up to $5000 from the ‘zero waste’ fund, which is open now.

Money for the Waste Minimisation and Innovation Fund comes from a levy of $10 per tonne on all waste sent to landfill.

Applicants must meet at least half the cost of their project and can apply for funding between $250 and $5000.

Projects funded since the first funding round in 2013 include surveys, pilots, and feasibility studies, workshops, education programmes and new equipment.

Applications for this funding round close on April 30. Info: aucklandwastefund@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz or call 09 301 0101.
