About Northern Matters

General

Northern Matters circulates monthly to 4300 homes and businesses in an area from The Dome to Maungaturoto & Paparoa, including the main townships of Wellsford, Mangawhai, Te Hana and Kaiwaka. As well as news about local issues and events, we run regular items on rural news, history items, gardening advice, an animal health column and Te Pataka Korero, a column about local Maori history & culture.

The paper is one of three papers published in Rodney/south Kaipara by Local Matters 2005 Ltd, a locally owned company.

Our purpose

Staff work hard to produce a newspaper that gives value to both advertisers and readers. We live and work locally, so take a personal interest in the affairs of our district.

We like to get the news first, but it is equally important to get it right.

Reader feedback tells us that they enjoy the paper because of its local content, the articles are relevant and not just media releases, and it is often information that is available nowhere else. The A4 format is also very popular. A newspapers with the shelf-life of a magazine.
