After four months’ fundraising, Mangawhai’s Tern Around Team has more than $20,000 towards the cost of getting to the United States for the future problem solving conference in Michegan this month.
The team of four year nine students, comprising Holly Brooks, Jamie Davies, Tahlia Howard and Alana Torrie, along with coach Rob Posthumus, have set themselves a fundraising target of $36,000. A recent games night at The Club, one of three organised by Paul Freeman, raised $1600. The team is grateful to Peter Fredricsen, of MPL, and Kitset Homes for supporting of these events.
A golf tournament, organised by Larry Renner and a picnic at Millars Vineyard held earlier this month, and a Great Gatsby themed Garden Party at Tara Lodge on April 19 will further boost funds.
