Supercity boundary change unlikely
Residents of Rodney lobbying the Government to shift the Auckland Supercity boundary south remain undeterred despite Local Government Minister Rodney Hide saying that they have “a big, big battle ahead”. Representatives of the two organisations fighting for a boundary change – the Wellsford Action Group (WAG) and the Northern Action Group (NAG) – held an hour-and-a-half long meeting with the Minister at the Wellsford Golf Club on Wednesday evening, December 2.

Surf, sand and Santa Claus
Santa will be including Mangawhai on his rounds this year.
Two enterprising mothers, Sandra Brunt and Laureen Medcalfe, have decided that Mangawhai has missed out for too long.
“Each year we go to the wonderful parade in Wellsford and think ‘wouldn’t it be great if we had something like this at Mangawhai!’,” Sandra says. “In the end, Laureen and I realised that if we wanted a home-grown Christmas parade we would have to organise it ourselves, and that’s what we’ve done.”

Talk starts on SH1 upgrade north to Wellsford
The upgrade of State Highway 1, between Puhoi and Wellsford, was the subject of a high level meeting in Wellsford on November 24.
The meeting was called by the NZ Transport Agency, which will spend just over $130 million on the pre-construction phase of the project over the next five years – $60 million on the investigation, consultation, consents and designation, and $70 million on land acquisition.
