Wellsford hosts tutus tour

ballet_wellsford_northernmatters.jpgA company of dancers from the Royal New Zealand Ballet will perform at the Wellsford District Community Centre on Tuesday, March 24.

The Tower Tutus on Tour programme will include Christopher Hampson’s acclaimed work Saltarello, as well as the work that puts the tutu in the tour – Holberg Suite.

Former RNZB dancer Andrew Simmons returns with a new work entitled Through to You, and top Australian choreographer Garry Stewart will present his highly charged work Currently Under Investigation.

Inspired by the music of Paul McCartney and John Lennon, RNZB dancers Catherine Eddy and Brendan Bradshaw will perform Koo Koo Ka Choo.

The company will present one performance only on March 24, but interested dancers will be allowed to view the company’s warm-up session in the afternoon between 3pm and 5pm.

The show is being presented by the Wellsford Dramatic Club.

A club spokesperson says that past performances have been a sell-out so anyone interested in attending is well advised to purchase their tickets early.
Tickets are only available from Clever Endeavours, 1 Worker Road, Wellsford, phone 423 8219.

The Tutus on Tour will also perform in Dargaville on March 17, where part of the proceeds will benefit Hospice Kaipara. For more information contact Heidi Dreyer on 0800 72 7059.

Grace and poise will take to the stage in Wellsford next month.
