Kaipara rates up 4%

Rates will rise by four percent in Kaipara this financial year, following the adoption of Kaipara District Council’s Long Term Council Community Plan.

A special targeted rate on the Ruawai community has been approved to finance the upgrade of the Ruawai Tokatoka War Memorial Hall. A targeted rate on forestry owners will also be implemented.

Changes have been made to Public Places Liquor Control Bylaw and Dog Management Bylaws. Council has decided to maintain the current seal extension and footpath budgets, and investigate new car parks, signage and streetlights in several locations in the year ahead. It has also allocated funds to investigate all possible options to help address issues surrounding access to Ripiro beach at Baylys.

Money has been set aside to appoint an economic development facilitator for Kaipara and funding has been approved for Sport Northland, Surf Lifesaving, the Mangawhai Information Centre, Citizens Advice Bureaus in Dargaville and Wellsford, the Matakohe community and the Avoca Tangowahine hall for various projects.
