Wellsford cubs regroup

Wellsford_scouts1v2.jpgThe Wellsford Scout Group has re-formed after an absence of many years and 18 cubs were recently invested by Mahurangi Zone leader Wayne Phillip.

Leader Victoria Goodall says 22 cubs have joined the pack, which meets in
the Scout Hall, Batten Street, on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm.

“There’s a lot of enthusiasm, both from the cubs and their parents,” she
says. “My husband Rob has been the driver behind the re-opening of Cubs and we were presented with our warranted leader certificate on the night the cubs were invested.

“The group offers young people a way to learn valuable skills that they might not otherwise pickup. It’s also great fun with lots of social activities such as camps.”
Victoria says parent support is crucial and a parent roster system is in place.
New recruits, aged between eight and 11 years, are always welcome. Info:
Phone Victoria on 423 8445.

The pack is currently selling firewood to raise much needed funds.

To order, phone 423 8445 or 027 733 4742.

Areepa Waaka and Joel Callagher salute the pack.
