Playground swings into actionThe school is hoping to install the $118,000 facility during next month’s school holidays. “This has been a dream of the school support team for many years,” principal Dave Bradley says. “We were struggling to raise the funds through sausage sizzles and other fundraisers, so the project was included in our core refurbishment programme which meant it could then be funded by the Ministry of Education.” The new facility will replace an existing playground and will cater for around 170 students in Years Five To Eight. The long-term plan includes the installation of park benches under the surrounding trees. Other improvements planned for the school this year include maintenance on the administration offices to make them weathertight, improve ventilation and lighting, a new fence along School Road and landscaping and pavement upgrades.
