Show features local hero
Keep a close eye on TV One on Sunday nights as one of Mangawhai’s familiar faces is about to be featured.
Popular policeman Snr Constable Graham Gough was recently interviewed for the station’s Unsung Heroes series. Graham was keeping the programme’s content closely under wraps, only admitting to having been nominated by a local. The series, which occupies a two minute slot, focuses on community legends. “If I tell you too much, it will spoil the show. You’ll just have to wait until it screens for the full story.” Graham has served most of his 36 years in the police force either at Mangawhai or close by. Originally from West Auckland, he joined the force in 1972 as a 19-year-old. During his career, he has not only fought crime, but also battled cancer and survived some serious head injuries sustained while on the job. He expects his story to be aired sometime this month, but could be overseas with wife Sheila when it screens. “I’ll have to make sure my daughter tapes it for us.” Mangawhai policeman Graham Gough. |
