Track and trail riders prepare for sand blastOne of the organisers, Damon Nield, brother of NZ Enduro titleholder Mitchell Nield who is also involved, says the trails have been designed to cater for all levels of expertise. Juniors will ride a 10km track, while the seniors will have 20km to negotiate. “There’ll be plenty of sand to play with on the Te Arai trails,” Damon says. “We’re keen for as many riders as possible to take part and there’s no limit on bike sizes or anything like that. There are categories for juniors, seniors, vets and women.” The Te Arai event will get underway with cross country on Saturday, starting with a sign on at 9.30am for juniors and 10.30am for seniors. This will be followed by the trail ride on Sunday, which starts with a sign on from 8.30am. Rounds two and three will be held at Hikurangi on November 14 and 15, and Whakapara on December 19 and 20.
