Sponsors wanted for Mangawhai Beach School Ag Day
Organisers of Mangawhai Beach School’s annual Agriculture Fun Day are hoping for cash from the community to underwrite the cost of hiring equipment.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 24, from 9am. It is the school’s major fundraiser with money raised going towards IT equipment. Last year, several businesses paid to hire activities such as a rock wall and bungee jump, which meant that money collected was all profit for the school. “We’re hoping that local business will support us again by contributing towards the cost of hire,” event organiser Juliet Vickers says. “All contributions, whatever size, will be welcomed and acknowledged.” The Friends of the School want to make the day fun for all ages, including plenty of child-friendly activities, as well as the traditional calf and lamb events to ensure a rural focus. A farmers’ market plus stalls selling local produce, books and collectables is planned this year. Juliet says community groups wishing to rent a stall are welcome as these will add to the “carnival” atmosphere. The group is also looking for donations of good quality secondhand items which could be auctioned or sold. Info: Phone Juliet Vickers on 431 2644 or Susan Woodhead on 027 62558071. |
