Cut price de-sexing on offer

Veterinarians at Mangawhai, Wellsford and Maungaturoto have got together with the Humane Society to cut the price of de-sexing a cat.

The offer will reduce the costs to $37.50 for a female cat or $27.50 for a male cat at participating clinics.

The offer is available from Wellsford vets during August and from Mangawhai and Maungaturoto vets from mid-September.

Megan Constable, who rescues stray cats and dogs, says it can cost well over $100 to have a female cat de-sexed. She says the high cost of having a pet neutered is one of the reasons she has had to find homes for more than 140 cats and kittens abandoned over the last year.
