As part of a new grass roots strategy, Federated Farmers has appointed a new field officer for the provinces of Northland, Auckland and Hauraki-Coromandel.
“While we influence decision making both internationally and domestically, it’s our grass roots connections that are vital to the success of agriculture and New Zealand,” Federated Farmers Chief Executive, Conor English, said.
Warkworth based, Rob Kent will liaise with the Federation’s elected leaders to identify and clarify local issues for farmers, all while promoting the Federation’s work to prospective members.
“This is a great opportunity to get out and speak with farmers about how we can work to boost their farm profitability,” says Rob Kent, Federated Farmers upper North Island Field Officer.
“The Federation is working overtime to achieve the best results for farmers on a range of issues and I’m blown away by the calibre of staff and how much goes on behind the scenes.
“I’ll be out there talking to farmers about the vital issues they face and what the Federation can do to make a real difference,” Rob concluded.
No stranger to the farming sector, Rob has been breeding horses and cattle for five years at his Kourawhero Murray Grey Stud.
He has been a poultry farmer and spent several years in the IT industry, where he specialised in the development of the computerised inventory and scanning systems used by most North Island dairy companies.
When not working, Rob enjoys horse riding and is a competitive yachtsman who has taken part in the Round North Island two-handed endurance yacht race.
