Linda says ...
I feel the NZTA have been evasive in answering the question Sue O'Brien posed in the last issue when she asked if the NZTA are required to consider motorway development on unoccupied land before displacing families from their homes? At the risk of sounding cynical, it must seem easier for NZTA to place a motorway over the level cleared lifestyle blocks of residents, with the minor incovenience of bowling down some houses, rather than use more difficult terrain, pine forest and such as the Illingworth brothers describe as "the crap" hills and bush. It is hypocritical that Bill English is blaming the Greenies for making it difficult for housing development to progress when his own party is pushing major roading initiatives which are in effect evicting residents and destroying homes.
