Replacing highly experienced Cartridge World owners Steve and Ben Clare is not easy, but if anyone’s up to the task it’s husband and wife team Glenn Rix and Ling Chan.
Glenn and Ling say they are enjoying soaking up all the information provided by Steve, who has been with Cartridge World since 2000. The local Cartridge World opened in 2011.
“Glenn and I want to make sure that all our customers are happy and that the high quality of the work that Ben and Steve have been known for over the past five years is maintained,” Ling says.
The business that Glenn and Ling took over at the start of this month includes Cartridge World in the Top of the Plaza, Whangaparaoa and agencies in Helensville, Huapai and Orewa.
By providing a professional refill service for most brands of laser and inkjet printer cartridge, including Brother, Canon, Epson and HP, they not only ensure that less bulky plastic cartridges end up in landfill, but also save customers money.
Doing a professional job is key, and includes investment in new technology such as the Eco Fill machine, which uses a vacuum to fill the cartridges the same way it is done in a factory. They are filled to the same level by ink volume and weight and tested. They recommend not letting the ink run out completely before replacing it, to get longer life out of the cartridge.
It is certainly not a ‘one size fits all’ kind of business – every brand uses a different ink and cartridge types, heating systems and chips also vary widely.
Glenn says dealing mainly with local small to medium businesses, including home based offices, means they are on the spot to deal with any issues and can guarantee their product.
He says awareness of the importance of their “refill not landfill” slogan is growing, but in the New Year he will be out and about spreading the word amongst local businesses.
Steve is taking a well-earned retirement, and he says he leaves happy knowing Cartridge World is in good hands.
“They’re a hard working, motivated couple and they’ve picked it all up very fast,” he says. “Our customers will be well looked after.”
