Paul Gothard and Terrence Banks have taken over the three Ray White branches in Warkworth, Snells Beach, and Maungaturoto.
The dynamic duo have been selling real estate in a partnership for eight years and say they are looking forward to making an equally successful management team.
“The reason we have always worked so well together is we complement each others strengths and weaknesses,” Terrence says. “Collectively, we are a strong team.”
Both Terrence and Paul are active in sports and coach local teams. The partnership was initially struck so that Paul could continue to coach football and Terrence could continue coaching Mahurangi College rugby.
Terrence has coached rugby teams from junior to senior level over the last 10 years. Paul is currently the All Whites goalkeeping coach, and assistant coach for the under 20 national team. He recently returned from the All Whites Nations Cup victory in Papua New Guinea.
Both agree that lessons learned coaching have proved useful in business and vice versa. Running all three offices means the pair and their team of 18 covers the Mahurangi and Kaipara regions, coast to coast, from as far south as Puhoi, north to Maungaturoto, excluding Mangawhai.
“It’s not inconceivable for us to go from one side of New Zealand to the other, in the space of a morning, to look at listings,” Terrence says.
The pair don’t envisage the region’s current hot property market will cool anytime soon.
“It has actually blown us away,” Paul says. “When the boom started in Auckland, it took a while to reach us. Two years ago you could pick up a property in Wellsford for around $250,000. Now you’re lucky to get into that market for $450,000 and it just keeps fanning outwards.”
Ray White also offers property management and home lending financial services. The pair is proud of the company’s 30-year family-run history in the area. Terrence says they also sponsor many local charities and organisations.
“We are family-operated, and family-focused. It underpins our business.”
