New distillery opens in Puhoi

Rodney MP Mark Mitchell officially opened the Puhoi Organic Distillery this month and then accepted a sample of the new product from distillery owner/operator Alex Kirichuk.

Alex says the new purpose-built distillery will specialise in hand-crafted herbal tonics and spirits, producing small batches of only 50 litres at a time, “with special discounts for locals”.

Also celebrating the opening were Puhoi Historical Society president Sheryll Titford, Larry Mitchell and Pamela Foster. Long-time Puhoi local Brian Titford is supplying plums to the new distillery.
