A taste of Hollywood and Broadway is coming to Maungaturoto, with Otamatea Repertory Theatre’s production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr this month.
The show is a condensed version of the 1991 Disney film and subsequent Broadway musical, adapted for young performers and running for just over an hour. It features the classic story of Belle and the Beast, a prince trapped under a spell, with many favourite tunes and songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.
There will be eight performances over two weekends at the Bickerstaffe Road theatre, from Saturday, April 27 until Sunday, May 5.
Tickets cost $28 for adults and $15 for students, and are available online at ort.org.nz or from Tony’s Lotto Shop in Maungaturoto. There is also a special deal for the opening performance on April 27 at 2pm, giving a 20 per cent discount to anyone buying four or more tickets (at least one of which must be an adult).
