NASA lit up social media and planet earth’s imagination after sharing a picture of the dwarf planet Pluto on Instagram, an hour before an official media conference. Captured by the New Horizons spacecraft drifting past the edges of our solar system, they cleverly called the heart-shape on its surface ‘Pluto’s love note back to Earth’. While the flyby was a quick 20 hours, it was the culmination of an epic 4.8 billion km journey over nine years, and three months of social media strategy planning.
