Inadequate broadband in Dairy Flat, which was highlighted as people worked and studied from home during lockdown, is now the subject of a petition before parliament.
The petition seeking that Government fund the prompt roll out of Ultra Fast Broadband in Dairy Flat and Coatesville was started on April 8 by Rodney Local Board member Louise Johnston.
More than 700 people signed the petition, which was recently presented to parliament.
It is now before Government’s Economic Development, Science and Innovation Committee for consideration.
“Reliable internet is a modern day necessity,” Louise says, adding that it is frustrating that, in 2015, Auckland Council did not include Dairy Flat in the priority areas for expansion of rural broadband services that it recommended for Government funding.
