Short visit for Shakesepear possum

Perhaps the unluckiest possum ever, recently managed to walk around the end of Shakespear Open Sanctuary’s pest proof fence, at Okoromai Bay (where it set off the camera) and into the sanctuary.

Instead of heading into the heart of the bush, where no doubt a feast of native flora and fauna awaited, it walked up the path to the resident ranger’s house and right onto his front lawn, where it set off the outdoor security light.

The ranger, Bruce Harrison, jumped into action, and quickly (and humanely) killed the possum.

“Stay at least 2m away next time, possum!” Bruce suggested.
