Whangaparaoa Rd changes proposed

Auckland Transport (AT) is proposing to make changes to Whangaparaoa Rd where it meets Main Street and Tower  Hill.

The proposals aim to improve safety and access for pedestrians – AT says studies show an increase in pedestrians using this intersection.

The changes AT would like to make include: turning the current slip lane from Whangaparaoa Rd into Main St into a signalised left turn; widening the footpaths, removing an existing crossing and widening the existing signalised crossing at the top of Tower Hill.

The work is funded by the Regional Fuel Tax which all Aucklanders pay, but could be affected by the current budget constraints.

The proposal is open now for submissions – until September 21.
