Centre invites all women

Women’s Centre Rodney will celebrate International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 9 (one day after the official day) with an open invitation to all women to call into the centre to meet other women and participate in a day’s activities.

There will be a free session of yoga at 9.30am, followed by guest speakers author Matilda Rice, ceramic artist Emma Zhang and Kiribati mother Kari Tekanene.

The day will also feature Pacifika and Bollywood dancing, ukulele playing, singing, and an interactive art project with renowned local harakeke (flax) weaver Leanne Ashby.

Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for women to meet and mingle over a shared lunch in the centre garden.

Centre manager Colleen Julian says International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

Women’s Centre Rodney is located at 10 Morpeth Street, Warkworth.
