Goat Island decision overturned

The Auckland District Court has set aside improvement and prohibition notices imposed on the glass bottom boat operation at Cape Rodney-Okakari Point (Goat Island) marine reserve. Maritime NZ director Keith Manch said the notices were issued under the Health and Safety at Work Act, based on concerns for the safety of swimmers. They had prohibited Glass Bottom Boat operating in Goat Island Channel. Mr Manch said Maritime NZ is disappointed with the Court’s decision and is considering its options.
