Leigh School’s annual Summer Festival

The sun shone and the crowds came out in force for Leigh School’s annual Summer Festival fundraiser on Saturday, February 8.

There was live music all day, a wide range of market stalls and lots of local food goodies, from fish burgers to fruit kebabs.

However, it was the quickfire raffles for fresh Leigh Fish that once again attracted the most attention. Jake Brebner is pictured above with a fine specimen of Jasus edwardsii, better known as crayfish.

Festival coordinator Maite Serna-Bermejo said afterwards that while the totals were still being tallied, organisers were hopeful of a healthy profit, which will go towards finishing the school’s kitchen renovation and carrying out resurfacing of the sports courts.
