Loom-a-thon for local causes

A group of Warkworth School students will tomorrow (Friday) make bands on a loom for 24 hours to raise funds for their favourite charities.

Year 6 girls Jolie, Ruby, Sofia, Riley, Indy, Matilda, Georgia, Amy and Sophie missed out on doing the 40-hour famine because of covid-19, but still wanted to make a difference.

Loom bands are a colourful craze among kids in which plastic bands are weaved into decorative items such as bracelets and charms.

The Warkworth girls are going to work together to loom the bands into a chain, which will wrap around into a ball.

They want to make the ball as big as possible over the 24 hours and are considering donating it to the Warkworth Museum as a covid-19 era artefact.

The girls are working in pairs and will take it in shifts to sleep over the 24-hour period.

They have chosen to donate the funds to Julie’s Animal Rescue in Warkworth as well as Sids and Kids, a charity saving the lives of babies during pregnancy.

Anyone who would like to cheer the girls on can contribute to DJL & FM Auber 06-0293-0048699-50.
