Modern needlework on show

Royal School of Needlework trained professional embroiderer and author of Stitch People, Jo Dixey, will be at the Kaukapakapa Library on Sunday, April 15.

Notable for not being in her dotage and surrounded by doilies, Jo applies traditional embroidery techniques to imaginative and contemporary works. As well as exhibiting her own pieces, she has been commissioned to work on large altar cloths, university banners and items for the fashion industry.

Working as a freelance embroiderer and stitch artist, Jo teaches embroiderers’ guilds and small private groups a variety of techniques, and holds design-based workshops around the country.

She will be at the library from 10am to 1pm. All welcome.
