Rental risesThe average weekly rent for new tenancies in Rodney rose from $522 in the first quarter of last year to $557 in the first quarter of this year, according to figures released by Barfoot & Thompson.

 

The number of new tenancies in Rodney also rose from 145 to 177 over the same period. Barfoot & Thompson director Kiri Barfoot says that the Auckland rental market is showing signs of being under pressure.

 

“Vacancy rates remain extremely low, the average rent for new tenancies has increased at a faster rate than the overall average, and Barfoot & Thompson is seeing record online registrations to view properties,” she says.
