Shopping help from volunteers

The newly formed volunteer group Mahurangi Caremongers is offering help for people shopping at New World Warkworth.

Spokesperson Murray Chapman says a roster of volunteers has been set-up to stand outside the supermarket to help people who might struggle to shop on their own. This group could include the elderly, anyone with a disability or a solo parent who can’t leave their children at home.

The service is operating on Tuesday and Thursday mornings only, and will continue for as long as there are enough volunteers.

People can volunteer via the Mahurangi Caremongers Facebook page. https://bit.ly/CareMongers

If you would like to use the service, Caremongers asks you to register first.

“We have volunteers spread around the district, so if we know who needs the help, we may be able to arrange a one-on-one service,” Murray says.

People can register for help via the Mahurangi Caremongers facebook page or by phoning Peter Henderson on 027 477 6519, Murray Chapman on 027 496 6550 or Grant Henderson on 027 403 9918; or by emailing: caremongers@freerangemedia.co.nz
