Unity Collection opens in Matakana Village

A new boutique gallery, under the Unity Collection banner, officially opened in Matakana Village last month. For the project, Unity founder Tania Rupapera travelled the country engaging with Maori artists involved in women’s development programmes.

Together they have produced art and wearable taonga, available for purchase.

“A lot of women who have work here have beautiful stories,” she says.  Tania also collaborated with Pakiri artist Ra Gossage on a clothing range with Maori designs.

In addition, the gallery hosts menswear designs by Taranaki-based artist Rangi Kipa.
