Warkworth Fiesta figures boom despite rain

Late afternoon rain failed to put a dampner on the Warkworth Fiesta last month, which raised over $26,000 for Warkworth School.

The money will go towards a new music suite for the school that will be added to existing buildings being rebuilt due to a fire that occurred last year.

Fiesta organizer Kristen Clarke says she thinks the wider variety of food stalls and lock box game containing an Ipad were contributed to its success.

The rain came in for the third year in a row on the fiesta but Kristen says, unlike the last couple of years, everyone was happy to stay on.

She says next year could be improved with Shoesmith Reserve re-opening, which would provide room for some larger entertainment like bouncy castles.
