Women turn out in force for rugby tournament

What is thought to be the Southern Hemisphere’s largest women’s rugby tournament kicked off in Silverdale on August 24 with 86 teams of all ages and grades taking to the field.

The NZ Rugby Women’s Invitational Tournament, organised in association with Harbour Rugby, saw double last year’s turnout, with 1100 players from as far away as Taranaki.
