Fight at Raiders under investigation

Police were called to a fight at the Hibiscus Coast Raiders grounds last weekend, resulting in two arrests.

Waitemata North area commander, Senior Sergeant Michael Rickards, says officers were called to the Rugby League Club in Stanmore Bay around 4pm on Saturday June 30, following reports of a large brawl.

A number of people were treated in hospital for moderate to minor injuries. Two people were arrested and charged with assault with intent to injure. A 27-year-old male is to appear in North Shore District Court on July 5, and a 26-year-old male will appear the following day.

Raiders Club chair Karen Gibbons says the club is focusing on supporting members who are injured, and all those who are emotionally stressed after the incident and can make no further comment at this stage.

Auckland Rugby League confirms that a judicial process is underway regarding the incident and can make no further comment.
