Pontoon for Little Manly

If resource consent comes through in time, this summer will see the Hibiscus Coast get its fifth swimming pontoon, at Little Manly.

The pontoons are anchored offshore – currently at Stanmore Bay, Manly, Tindalls and Arkles Bay – over summer so that locals can climb onto them and jump off.

They are very popular, especially with young people.

Council aims to have the new pontoon out by summer, but says that will mean ‘putting the foot to the floor’, especially when it comes to resource consent.

The pontoons cost $20,000 each – a figure that Hibiscus & Bays Local Board member Mike Williamson described at a meeting on September 19 as “horrendous”.

He asked for a breakdown of this cost, which Council says it will supply.
