Armistice Day remembered

The final commemoration of the World War I centenary year will take place on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Armistice Day.

On Sunday, November 11, it will be 100 years since the allied forces and Germany signed an agreement to cease hostilities – the armistice took effect from 11am on November 11, 1918.

Commemoration events will take place around the country. Locally the Hibiscus Coast Community RSA in Vipond Rd, Stanmore Bay, holds an Armistice Day commemoration every year and expects a good crowd for the centenary of this historic event.

There will be a short service, followed by refreshments in the clubrooms at the RSA, with all welcome. Guests are asked to assemble at 10.45am.
