The Hibiscus Coast has seen the last of Girl Guide biscuit sellers, with local coordinator Barbara Hamer confirming last week that Orewa and Whangaparaoa Guides have both sold out of the well known treat.
Last year Girl Guiding NZ announced that March 2019 would be the final biscuit-selling season.
The biscuits have been a major fundraiser for the organisation for more than 60 years, but it has removed the sale of biscuits by its members to “focus on activities and efforts that inspire and empower young women”.
Guides biscuits sales manager, Paige Fleming, says the organisation is “working with Griffin’s on how Guide biscuits may continue to be distributed in New Zealand”.
