Rural subdivision proposed in Matthew Road

Moir Hill Forestry has applied for resource consent to create a 37-lot rural residential subdivision in Matthew Road, off Woodcocks Road, west of Warkworth.

The subdivision is a non-complying activity under the Auckland Council District Plan (Rodney Section) and a non-complying activity under the Auckland Unitary Plan.

The majority of the lots will range in size from half a hectare to 1.3-hectares, with four larger lots that range from around 25ha to 164ha.

Moir Hill Forestry, whose sole director is Wayne Boocock of Red Beach, is seeking consent to either create the titles as shown on the scheme plan or to transfer the sites elsewhere, should this be enabled under the Unitary Plan Transferable Rural Sites Subdivision provisions, following the resolution of appeals.

The consent application states that the subdivision is based on the protection of native wetland, native bush and native bush rehabilitation.

Earthworks totalling 92,000 cubic metres over 6.2ha is proposed to form the road and rights of way.

Two bridges and five culverts are also part of the plan to provide access to the proposed sites.

The 320ha earmarked for development are currently zoned rural production. The closing date for submissions is Thursday, July 4, at 11am.
