Call for whale sightings in the north

National Geographic is asking anyone who spots orca to get in touch, as it begins filming north of Auckland.

The film crew will be situated north of Auckland for three weeks from today, gathering orca footage for a TV series. There will be four episodes, each focusing on a different kind of whale.

Washington production company Red Rock Films is collaborating with founder and principal scientist of the Orca Research Trust, Dr. Ingrid Visser.

The crew will also be joined by underwater cameraperson and filmmaker, Kina Scollay.

The programme will premiere on the National Geographic channel early next year.
