Tree focus for fundraising

The Tree of Remembrance is a way to honour special people who cannot be with us at Christmas while supporting the work of hospice in the community.

A Tree of Remembrance went up in Farmers in Silverdale Mall on November 14 and, from December 9-23, Harbour Hospice will also have Trees of Remembrance at New World stores in Orewa and Whangaparaoa. Volunteers will invite passers-by to make a donation and write a special message for someone they’ll be thinking about this Christmas, and place it on the tree.

The Trees of Remembrance campaign has run for more than 10 years, and donations in this time have raised more than $800,000 for hospice in the North Shore, Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth Wellsford communities.

In addition, Farmers in Silverdale Mall is selling hand-painted Christmas baubles in support of hospice. They are $10 each, all of which is donated to Harbour Hospice’s Hibiscus House in Red Beach.
