Zero Covid-19 cases detected

No further cases of Covid-19 have been detected at the Wellsford Community Based Assessment Centre (CBAC) in the last seven days.

The total number of cases detected at the centre remains at 10.

Coast to Coast Health spokesperson Dr Tim Malloy says it’s encouraging news.

“I feel comfortable with the country moving into alert level 3 next week. Everything we hoped for and anticipated has gone according to plan,” he says.

Nevertheless, he says the community needs to be ready to respond appropriately should the situation change.

Dr Malloy says fewer people were coming to the centre for testing now, a reflection of the fact that fewer people were exhibiting symptoms. Those who were turning up tended to have low risk.

The Wellsford CBAC covers the region from Warkworth to Brynderwyn.

Number of cases of Covid-19 detected at Wellsford mirrors national trends, which show a declining number of cases detected across the country. Yesterday, there were only three new cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand.
